"The number one killer in America is stress. The number one cure for stress is cannibis." -Willie Nelson
I love Willie. Saw him last year with Bob Dylan & just melted. I've been watching his 60 Minutes uncut interview today in random spurts.
I'm tired. We've been antiquing & ate good Italian food. Not gonna say much but I do have some good pics from Missouri that I'll try to post tomorrow. It's hotter than love in Missouri. It's hotter than monkey love in Missouri. It's hotter than the hottest monkey love in Missouri. You get the idea. I'll try to get those posted.

A snippet of conversation that just moved me this weekend.
Dave's 94 year old great-grandmother:
"The wind was coming in from the south. And we sat on the steps and watched the lightning. And it was beautiful. I didn't want you to be scared of it."

For Terri:
These are a few of the newest crocks I've purchased. Your friend is wise. The value of these just seem to be getting higher. When I first started collecting them it was easy to find them for around $20 (the bigger ones). Now, you're pretty lucky to find the bigger ones for less than $50.

And some shoe forms. Because I like old wooden shoes. And old cast iron shoe forms.

I likes 'em.

I have a problem. It's more like a weakness. Maybe it's not even a weakness at all. Maybe it's a strength. Maybe it's an ability, a talent even. I have a talent for scoping out outstanding deals, for buying old things at sometimes great prices. I have practiced this talent for the last two weeks, resulting in a table stacked with old dishes, a floorboard loaded with old crocks & stoneware, price tags scatterd all over hell & creation.
Last weekend, I soaked some newly found ironstone platters in oxyclean. That didn't exactly do the trick although it did move some of the brown spots around. Just to new locations though. I remembered an article I had read somewhere that revealed the best method for cleaning aged ironstone: a hydrogen peroxide bath.
I haven't bathed my ironstone yet. But I plan on it.
Thursday I was thinking about how I needed to go to a beauty supply store to purchase my peroxide, how I needed a tub with a lid, how I'd soak every white dish I own, how I'd make it look new, beautiful, wanted again.
Thursday afternoon I stopped by a flea market on my way home. I had bought stuff all week & really didn't need to spend any more money. I just wanted to see if there was anything I couldn't live without. There was. And old crock bowl for $8. An ironstone vase for $4, but it was 50% off. So an ironstone vase for $2. White dishes. The kind I collect. The kind that makes my heart pitter patter & radiate warmth. I bought stuff. I still haven't gotten it out of the truck. Thursday I decided I have a problem. Today I've changed my mind.
I've been thinking it might be a good idea to post the things I pick up here & there. I know I'm not the only one with this obsession, this need to every now & then buy something chippy & wonderful & white ( or blue or grey ).
So even though I've not even been blogging lately, I'm gonna try to post the things I find.
Here are two recent purchases:

The white highchair was a birthday gift. The blue one I found Wednesday & just couldn't pass up. I really wish I had a before & after pic of the white one. When I brought it home it was covered in dirt. I told Dave that I had a sneaking suspicion that there might be a nice layer of white underneath all that grey/green. I oxy-cleaned that baby, scrubbed it & sure enough a pretty white layer emerged. I never would have believed it could get that clean.
I need to wash all these purchases & get them clean.
I need to soak some of them in peroxide.
I need to blog more.
I'm sorry.
But I have added things to my website. Today has been a day for much needed updates. I added dolls that I've made, 2 new paintings, and several paintings that are old but haven't appeared on the site before now.
2 new paintings:
A digital camera is such a rocking thing.
